Citrix Secure Access Client for Mac OSX

Citrix have finally released a beta client of their Citrix Secure Access Client for the Mac OSX.

The beta release for Secure Access Client for Mac OS X is supported for use with Access Gateway Standard Edition only. This client allows remote users to connect using an easy-to-use, Web download and updated client, enjoying a rich desk-like experience. Always-on access automatically and seamlessly reconnects users to their documents when they change locations and devices, or lose connectivity.

Up till now its been a Windows only client which meant I had to do everything through a VM image. Which was a pain when it comes to developing and testing sites.

You'll need to sign up (for free) to "My Citrix". Once logged in go to support >> downloads >> Select "Citrix Access Gateway" product from the drop down >> click on the link for "Secure Access Client for Mac OS X - BETA"

Y2k Deja vu?

Just found this quote over at cNet.com

Software running on thousands of computers worldwide will become inoperable in a few weeks because of an obscure date-related glitch, and developers are rushing to create and apply patches.

It doesnt look anywhere near as serious as the scale of y2k, but still its worth a mention. Read more here.

Be affraid, be very afraid

So i think all of us have been following the Eola case closely to find out the outcome, and i think for once Microsoft has the majority backing on this. BUT, this isnt the worst patent out there. If you get a chance check out youmaybenext.com, actually, please, just go there, its an amazing patent, sure brilliance. This is there claim:
"If you use graphical and textual information on a video screen for purposes of making a sale" and (yes there's more) "accept information to conduct automatic financial transactions via a telephone line & video screen" then you are infringing on their copyright.
OUCH!
So be warned, as the site says "you may be next." In the meantime i live/work/develop in the UK so im feeling pretty safe here at the moment, but my concerns now is how long before this becomes a global epidemic and everyone is trying to jump on this band wagon?
